Bernardite was discovered in 1989 at Allchar, Macedonia, although
with inconclusive X-ray data (Pasava et al., 1989; Rieck, 1993). A year
later, on the sample L22442 from Lengenbach was detected the new mineral, described
initially as orpiment, but later identified as bernardite, using a database of
X-ray diffraction The mineral is monoclinic and it’s found in the form
of crystals up to 0.3 mm associated with realgar and orpiment.
