Imhofite is dedicated to the Imhof family, especially Josef Imhof (1902-1969) of Binn, Lengenbach great enthusiast and promoter of the reopening of the mine in 1958 with the creation of the AGL.
Imhofite is monoclinic, dark red (with a hue similar to that of copper) and forms very small foliated nodules (up to 1 mm) of radial structure made up of tiny tabular crystals. It’s usually associated with realgar, lorandite and hutchinsonite.
